The Design

Made to mix and match, our Chindi Mini Check cushion has a two-tone small-scale checkered pattern and is available in four different colors.

The Material

India imports waste fabrics and garments like button-downs, tees, sweatshirts, and jackets, which they sort into similar colors. Next, they’re cut into 2″ strips, and mills put these small pieces into a fiber-making machine. The fibers are then spun into a yarn and woven into something new, preventing pounds of fabric and garments from going into a landfill. These cushions are primarily upcycled cotton, but because of the nature of the sorting process, they also have trace elements of polyester and other miscellaneous fibers.

The Maker

Our partner is a third-generation family-run weaving house in Panipat. Loyal to the principles of fine craftsmanship, they’re also making efforts to minimize pollution in their industry. In all of what they make, they prioritize tradition, quality and an eye for detail.

The Designer

Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they work with the supplier on an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.
